More about Ziggy & Batman

Now that these two are ready for adoption, I thought it would be helpful for folks to know what I’ve learned about them over the month-and-a-half they’ve been with me.

  1. They play HARD, but there’s never any sign of aggression so don’t worry.
  2. But as quickly as a frenzied play session begins, it will often end up with the two of them curled up on my lap, draped over each other.
  3. The only problem is if one of them is on my lap and the other one wants to play from beneath. Sharp little claws!
  4. They aren’t crazy about being picked up and held—they start to squirm after a few seconds—but once they curl up on your lap and go to sleep they’re fine with your hands on them.
  5. They follow me everywhere, even if I leave the room for only 15 or 20 seconds.
  6. I have to close the bedroom door at night because their nighttime playing often takes place on the bed.
  7. They’ve gotten very interested in exterior doors, so pay attention when you come and go.
  8. I give them a little canned food (Purina One for kittens) but they happily eat dry food (Purina kitten chow).
  9. They definitely know the sound of a treats package shaking.
  10. They love the cat tower and spend a lot of time on top (about six feet high).
  11. They’ll play with any toys but there’s no need to spend a lot on new ones. They’ll play with wine corks, paper towels and empty boxes with equal happiness.
  12. QUIRKY THING: As often as not, they go in the litter box together. (They are VERY closely bonded.)
  13. ANOTHER QUIRKY THING: When I’m scooping, they’re right there wanting to get in the box. I have to lift them out over and over to get the job done.

Adoption success!

Ziggy and Batman went to their forever home this afternoon. A very nice lady whose two senior cats—mother and daughter—died within barely a week from each other a couple of months ago was ready for some new companionship. Almost as soon as they reached the lady’s house, Ziggy and Batman were playing, which tells me […]

Meet Ziggy and Batman!

These two! They’ve been with me, their foster dad, for about a month. The Fat Kitty City folks tell me they were removed from a really terrible hoarding situation, one so bad they wouldn’t show me any pictures of the place. Best guess is that as of now (September 8th) they’re 10-11 weeks old, It’s […]
