Heeeeeere’s Callie!
I’ll get right to the point: this is a really fine cat. She’s affectionate and playful, she doesn’t overeat, and she’s a looker. Check out all that color! (I don’t know if Callie has always been her name or if it was given to her at the sanctuary, but its significance for a calico is obvious. And after only a week with me I believe she responds to it.)
The folks at Fat Kitty City tell me that Callie and several siblings lived with a woman who unfortunately passed away. The cats were left alone, semi-abandoned, and at risk of being put out on the streets. But fortunately for them—and for their eventual forever-humans—they ended up in Fat Kitty City.
It’s understandable that Callie was scared and reserved in her new environment at the sanctuary. Indeed I hear that she had a rough transition and it was weeks before she allowed anyone to get close to her. What’s therefore remarkable is how quickly she relaxed once she came to my place. This is what I mean by relaxed:

And she can jump.

I was amazed to learn that Callie is 10 years old. She loves playing with stuffed toys; her little mouse is usually waiting for me in the bedroom when I get up in the morning. And she’s a fan of catnip. For a middle-aged kitty she’s very spry, definitely more spry than her middle-aged foster parent!
She hasn’t jumped on my lap yet, but when I’ve lifted her up she stays for a few minutes…as long as she’s being scratched. Callie LOVES having her back and cheeks scratched. And unlike many cats, she seems to like belly rubs. She’s pretty talkative, too.

Somebody adopt this girl!
