ABOUT THIS SITE

admin

The first thing I want be clear about is that the cats featured here ARE NOT MY CATS and I WILL NOT BE ADOPTING THEM. I have to stress this because the people who know me and my affection for cats assume I will be a Foster Fail. Barely five minutes after I put the first cute picture on Facebook, I began hearing, “Don’t kid yourself — they’re home,” or “These babies are yours,” or “This picture has Foster Fail written all over it.”

Believe me: I know what it’s like to fail at fostering. My husband and I failed miserably at fostering the two whose picture you see above, Jenny and Riley, who we took in in 2012. Riley was sweet from the beginning but it took months before Jenny relaxed, and by then, who were we kidding? They were with us until 2020, when Riley died, and last year, when Jenny left us. They were great cats.

But there will be no adopting this time, primarily because when I retire in a few years we will be traveling a lot, and having pets won’t work with that kind of life. So think what you like, but this site is all about helping potential adopters get a better idea of the cats I’m fostering. When they’re in shelters, even great ones, their personalities don’t always shine through. So I hope the pictures and anecdotes here will help. I’ll indicate on each post how ready I think the cats are for adoption.

The cats on this site come from Fat Kitty City, based in El Dorado Hills, California. Fat Kitty City is a project of the Agee Memorial Wildlife Fund, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that can use your cash and your donations of various things. Read about them here.

Inquiries about adoption of the cats you see here and other great cats should be directed to:

Adoption success!

Ziggy and Batman went to their forever home this afternoon. A very nice lady whose two senior cats—mother and daughter—died within barely a week from each other a couple of months ago was ready for some new companionship. Almost as soon as they reached the lady’s house, Ziggy and Batman were playing, which tells me […]

Meet Ziggy and Batman!

These two! They’ve been with me, their foster dad, for about a month. The Fat Kitty City folks tell me they were removed from a really terrible hoarding situation, one so bad they wouldn’t show me any pictures of the place. Best guess is that as of now (September 8th) they’re 10-11 weeks old, It’s […]
